Mann

Mann
Mann empowers adults with disabilities from underprivileged backgrounds through industry-specific training and job placements across sectors. By addressing exclusion and lack of livelihood opportunities, Mann ensures long-term workplace success through ongoing support and mental health services.

Since 2010, Mann has empowered adults with disabilities through structured training and lifelong support. Programmes focus on ‘liveability’ (functional academics and independent living) and ‘workability’ (sector-specific skills), followed by ongoing post-placement support including retraining and mental health care. Operating via a hub-and-spoke model, Mann ensures quality and scalability through partner centres across geographies. While it has successfully placed individuals with mild to moderate disabilities in mainstream jobs, limited opportunities for those with severe disabilities led to the creation of Karmann, a sister enterprise that trains and employs the adults to upcycle fabric waste into handcrafted products.

The Harish and Bina Shah Foundation grant supports Mann by fostering organization building, covering new office rent, refurbishment, capacity building and senior management costs and also managing programmatic expenses such as field staff, research, travel, and raw materials, strengthening both institutional capacity and programme delivery.
