We are a not-for-profit working to advance India’s tourism agenda. We believe tourism is the next powerhouse sector for the Indian economy. We partner with governments, industry leaders, institutions, and communities to design policies and strategies to unlock India’s tourism potential.

We were incubated by “The Convergence Foundation” in 2025. Our work focuses on strengthening the ecosystem around tourism, with a lens of sustainability across:   

(i) Marketing Destinations: Positioning India’s tourism globally to attract high-value travellers. 

(ii) Data-Led Governance: Building an ecosystem enabling data-led decision-making.  

(iii) Attracting Investments: Simplifying licences to ease investments in India’s tourism.  

(iv) Destination Governance: Enabling institutions to develop tourism destinations holistically.  

We have supported central and state governments on policies, destination development blueprints, and on easing licensing processes.   

With grant support from the Harish and Bina Shah Foundation, Atithi Foundation will establish Strategic Support Units (SSUs) anchored in central and state tourism departments. SSUs will work closely with departments to develop strategic policies on demand and supply needs of the tourism sector. To demonstrate the potential impact, SSUs will take up implementation of key projects in select states.
